UltraGambler earns a commission if you sign up through some links on this page. It never changes our ratings. 18+. How we make money

Quick verdict: Gates of Olympus is one of Pragmatic Play’s most popular slots. Zeus throws random multipliers from 2x to 500x onto a 6×5 “pay anywhere” grid, and in free spins those multipliers keep adding up. It’s high volatility with a 96.5% default RTP and a 5,000x top win, so expect long quiet spells and occasional huge hits.

How do the Zeus multipliers work?

Like Sweet Bonanza, it has no paylines: 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the grid win. Winning symbols disappear and new ones tumble down, so wins can chain together. At any time, Zeus can drop multiplier orbs worth 2x to 500x; when the tumble sequence ends, all multipliers on screen are added together and applied to that spin’s win.

How do Gates of Olympus free spins reach 5,000x?

Four or more scatters award 15 free spins. During the feature, every multiplier that lands on a winning tumble is added to a running total multiplier, which then applies to all later wins in the round. That’s where the 5,000x wins come from. Three or more scatters during free spins add 5 more spins.

Ante Bet and bonus buy

  • Ante Bet: 25% more per spin for double the chance of triggering free spins.
  • Bonus buy: 100x your bet for instant free spins, where your country allows it.

RTP and volatility

The default RTP is 96.5%, but casinos can choose 95.5% or 94.5% versions, so check the info screen. It’s highly volatile: many spins pay little or nothing, and the game relies on multipliers for its big wins. Choose a stake that lets your budget last.

How likely is a 5,000x win on Gates of Olympus?

Two of the sources we checked publish the odds of hitting the 5,000x cap: Bigwinboard gives 1 in 697,350 spins and OLBG gives 1 in 718,391. Call it roughly 1 in 700,000. We worked out what that means over different numbers of spins, using: chance of at least one max win = 1 – (1 – p) to the power of the number of spins, where p is the chance on one spin. The cost column is spins x $1 x 3.5%, the share the 96.5% version keeps on average.

Spins at $1Chance of at least one 5,000x winAverage cost at 96.5% RTP
1,000About 0.14%$35
10,000About 1.4%$350
100,000About 13%$3,500
700,000About 62% to 63%$24,500

Even after 700,000 spins, about the average gap, there is still a 37% to 38% chance of never seeing the cap. At a casino running the 94.5% version, the same 700,000 spins would cost $38,500 on average instead of $24,500, because the game keeps 5.5 cents of every dollar instead of 3.5. Treat 5,000x as a ceiling, not a target.

Tips

  • Play the demo first to get a feel for the volatility.
  • Keep stakes small enough for a long session, as the bonus can take hundreds of spins.
  • Skip the bonus buy unless you’re comfortable losing 100x your bet on a single feature.
  • See how it ranks against other games in our best RTP slots.

Want a bigger ceiling? Gates of Olympus 1000 raises the top multiplier to 1,000x and the max win to 15,000x. If you enjoy Gates of Olympus, Starlight Princess uses the same pay-anywhere engine with multipliers up to 500x, and Madame Destiny Megaways is another high-volatility Pragmatic Play hit. Two more Greek-themed pay-anywhere games from Pragmatic Play are Wisdom of Athena (multipliers up to 500x and a top row that opens) and Forge of Olympus (hammer multipliers and four free spins levels). For a Greek gods slot from Play’n GO, see our Rise of Olympus review.

Gates of Olympus vs Gates of Olympus 1000 and other god slots

The success of Gates of Olympus led to a run of Greek-god slots. Pragmatic Play’s own Gates of Olympus 1000 (2023) keeps the grid and raises the top multiplier to 1,000x, Zeus vs Hades lets you pick your volatility, and Play’n GO’s Rise of Olympus uses cascades and god powers instead of multipliers.

Who should play Gates of Olympus?

Gates of Olympus suits players who accept long quiet spells for the chance of a big free spins round. Because multipliers add up during free spins, one good bonus can pay for many losing spins, but many bonuses also pay little. Use small stakes so your budget lasts long enough to see the feature. If you want the same style with a higher top win, Sweet Bonanza goes past 21,000x; if you want to stay with Zeus, the 1000 version goes to 15,000x.

Where to play Gates of Olympus

Our pick is 1win, rated 9.9/10, and our June 2026 crypto withdrawal from it took 15 minutes. BitStarz (9.5/10) is the next best choice. Gates of Olympus is stocked almost everywhere, but 95.5% and 94.5% versions exist, so check the info screen shows 96.5% before you play. Compare more options in our casino reviews.
