Quick answer: every casino gets four scores out of 10: trust and fairness, games and software, bonuses and promotions, and customer support. The overall rating is the average of the four, rounded to one decimal. Where we can, we also deposit real money and time a withdrawal; so far we have done this at 1win, iWild, FortuneJack, Tsars and Casoo. Current ratings run from 9.9/10 (1win) to 3.3/10 (BC.Game).
Every casino rating on UltraGambler follows the same process. Our principle is simple: real data over marketing hype. We don’t take marketing kits at face value, and every review says clearly whether it includes our own payout test.
Reviews are overseen by Jason Thompson, UltraGambler’s founder, who has more than 20 years’ experience in bookmaking and the casino industry and 7 years reviewing online casinos.
How is a casino’s rating worked out?
Each casino is scored from 1 to 10 in four categories, the same four you see in the rating box on every review:

The overall rating is the average of the four scores, rounded to one decimal. For example, FortuneJack scores 9, 9, 10 and 9, which averages 9.25 and is shown as 9.3/10.
Editor’s adjustment: the editor can move an overall rating by up to 0.2 for something the four scores don’t capture, and the review then says why. This currently applies to one casino: 1win, whose four scores (10, 10, 9 and 10) average 9.75 and which is shown as 9.9/10.
Which casinos have we tested with real money?
Five so far. We deposited our own money, played, and timed the withdrawal:

For every other casino, the review uses the casino’s own terms and at least two independent sources, and says so. We are working through the rest.
What we check in every review
- Licence and owner: we look the licence up in the regulator’s register and link to it, and we check for regulator bans or orders against the operator.
- Fine print: we read the bonus terms in full and turn wagering into real amounts, so you can see the true cost of an offer. We flag max-bet limits, restricted games and winnings caps.
- Verification (KYC): we note which documents a casino asks for and when, so you aren’t caught out when you try to withdraw.
- Payouts: at the five casinos above, we timed our own withdrawals. Elsewhere we report the casino’s stated times and what independent reviewers found.
As of 12 October 2026, UltraGambler’s ratings run from 9.9/10 for 1win down to 3.3/10 for BC.Game. In between, Casumo scores 6.8/10 (lowered from 9.0 on 12 October 2026, after Casumo told us it is limiting play to UK players) and Betspino 7.0/10.
Casinos that don’t make the grade
Casinos that fail our checks aren’t recommended. Where we have reviewed a brand and found serious problems, we say so in the review and give it a low rating, whatever commercial relationship may exist. New casinos are added only occasionally, after we have checked their licence, terms and player complaints.
Editorial policy and corrections
- Every fact comes from at least two independent sources. If they disagree, we give a range or leave the fact out.
- Licences link to the regulator’s own register where one exists.
- Money pages end with a “How we checked this” box naming the sources and the date the figures were last checked.
- Commission never changes a score or a ranking.

How often do we re-check casinos?
Every week. Since 9 October 2026, every Monday we re-check all 19 casinos we review, without needing to deposit:
- Licence: is it still listed in the regulator’s register, and under which company?
- Regulator action: any fines, bans or orders against the operator.
- Owner changes: whether a new company now runs the casino.
- Welcome bonus and terms: the current offer, wagering and limits, confirmed by two independent sources.
The first check, on 9 October 2026, led to corrections on 16 reviews and 7 bonus pages. For example, it found new licence holders for 1win, 1xBet, mBit and Wild Tokyo, and that BC.Game had lost its Curaçao licence and moved to Anjouan. On 10 October 2026 we also followed every “Play Now” link on the site: all 20 lead to the right casino. If you spot something out of date, please let us know.
