Quick verdict: Mental is Nolimit City’s extreme, high-volatility slot set in a disturbing asylum. It’s packed with features, from splitting symbols to huge multipliers, and has three free spins modes and a 66,666x top win. With a 96.09% RTP and very high variance, it’s strictly for experienced players with a budget to match. Its graphic theme also won’t suit everyone.

How Mental works
The unusual 3-2-3-2-3 grid can grow as features add extra ways to win. On any spin, Fire Frames can appear on the reels and split symbols in two, while enhancer cells on reels 2 and 4 can add wilds, expand ways (xWays) or split symbols (xSplit). Premium “patient” symbols can carry large multipliers.
Free spins modes
Bonus symbols unlock one of three free spins rounds, from the entry-level Autopsy Spins to the most powerful Mental Spins, each with stronger features. In countries that allow it, you can also buy entry to the bonuses at a fixed price.
RTP and volatility
The standard RTP is 96.09%, but volatility is extreme: you can go a very long time with little return, while the top win is 66,666x. Treat it as entertainment with a strict budget.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Huge 66,666x max win | Extreme volatility |
| Many stacking features | Graphic, disturbing theme |
| Three free spins modes | Complex for new players |
| Bonus buy options | Lower RTP versions exist |
Tips
- Play the demo first to understand the features.
- Use small stakes: high variance can drain a balance fast.
- Be cautious with bonus buys, which can cost up to 1,000x your bet.
- If you prefer calmer games, see our Starburst review.
Mental vs other extreme slots
Mental belongs to a small group of modern slots built for huge top prizes rather than steady play. Its 66,666x ceiling is among the highest, but its RTP is a little lower than these rivals, and its theme is far darker.
| Slot | Provider | Volatility | RTP | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| Money Train 2 | Relax Gaming | High | 96.4% | 50,000x |
| Wanted Dead or a Wild | Hacksaw Gaming | Very high | 96.38% | 12,500x |
| Razor Shark | Push Gaming | Very high | 96.7% | 85,475x (reported) |

How to approach a slot like Mental
Treat Mental as entertainment with a lottery-style top prize. Most spins and many bonuses pay little, so decide your budget and stop point before you start, and use the smallest stake that still feels fun. Try the free-play demo first to see how the three free spins modes differ. Avoid chasing losses with the bonus buy: it costs many times your stake and does not guarantee a return. Our gambling budget calculator helps you set limits, and our high volatility slots guide explains the risk.
Where to play Mental
Our first choice is 1win (9.9/10), which paid our test crypto withdrawal in 15 minutes. BitStarz (9.5/10) is a good alternative. Nolimit City games are not stocked everywhere, and the bonus buy is switched off in some countries, so search the lobby before you deposit and check the info screen shows 96.09%.
