Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. For the last one, Super Bowl LX in February 2026, the American Gaming Association expected Americans to bet a record $1.76 billion through legal sportsbooks.

Quick answer: the four main Super Bowl bets are the moneyline (who wins), the point spread (the winning margin), the total (combined points, over or under) and props (events inside the game, such as the MVP or the coin toss). Most US sportsbooks show American odds: +150 means a $100 bet wins $150, and -110 means you bet $110 to win $100. Compare prices before you bet, and only bet where it is legal.

How do you bet on the Super Bowl?

Pick a licensed sportsbook where you live, open the American football (NFL) section and choose the Super Bowl game or the “Super Bowl winner” futures market. Then follow these steps:

  1. Check the law where you live. In the US, sports betting is legal in 39 states plus Washington, DC, and about 30 of them allow online betting (mid-2026). Use a sportsbook licensed in your state.
  2. Open an account and verify your ID. Sportsbooks check your age and identity, usually before your first withdrawal.
  3. Set a budget before you deposit, and stick to it. Our gambling budget calculator helps.
  4. Choose a market: moneyline, spread, total, a prop, or a futures bet on the winner.
  5. Check the price on the bet slip. Our odds calculator converts American odds to decimal or fractional odds and shows the payout.
  6. Place the bet and keep the bet slip. Bets on the game are settled after the final whistle, including any overtime.

How do Super Bowl odds work?

Most US sportsbooks quote American odds, also called moneyline odds. A plus number is what you win on a $100 bet. A minus number is what you must bet to win $100. Your stake comes back on top when you win.

American oddsDecimal odds$100 bet returnsImplied chance
+3004.00$400 ($300 profit)25.0%
+1502.50$250 ($150 profit)40.0%
+100 (even money)2.00$200 ($100 profit)50.0%
-1101.91$190.91 ($90.91 profit)52.4%
-1501.67$166.67 ($66.67 profit)60.0%
-3001.33$133.33 ($33.33 profit)75.0%
Our own maths. Implied chance = the win probability the price suggests, before the sportsbook’s margin is removed.

The margin is easy to spot on a spread or total. When both sides are priced at -110, each implies a 52.4% chance, which adds up to 104.8% instead of 100%. The extra 4.8 percentage points are the sportsbook’s built-in margin, so you need to win about 52.4% of -110 bets just to break even. Our no-vig calculator strips the margin out and shows the fair price.

Super Bowl prop bets

Props are bets on what happens inside the game rather than the final score. The main groups are:

  • Coin toss. Heads or tails, and which team wins the toss. It is a true 50/50, so the price only carries the sportsbook’s margin: there is no edge to find.
  • Super Bowl MVP. Quarterbacks have won the award 34 times, more than every other position combined, so they are usually the favourites. It doesn’t always go that way: Seattle running back Kenneth Walker III was the MVP of Super Bowl LX.
  • Player numbers. Over/under on passing, rushing and receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns.
  • Scoring props. First team to score, first scoring play (touchdown or field goal), anytime touchdown scorer, and whether there will be overtime.
  • Novelty props. Some sportsbooks also price the halftime show, the national anthem or the colour of the drink poured on the winning coach. Which props you can bet on depends on where you live.

Before you bet a two-way prop, enter both prices in our no-vig calculator to see how big the margin is. Treat props as fun bets with small stakes.

Where can you bet on the Super Bowl?

In the US, use a sportsbook licensed in your state. Sports betting is legal in 39 states plus Washington, DC, and about 30 of them allow online betting (mid-2026). The rest of the country has no legal sports betting, so check your state’s rules first.

Outside the US, many international sportsbooks cover the Super Bowl. The two we review, 1win and 1xBet, don’t accept players from the US or the UK, among other countries. If they are available and legal where you live, check their American football section before you deposit, because the markets offered vary by country.

1win (9.9/10) has a sportsbook and a casino on one account. Sign up with promo code Ultragambler; the welcome bonus and its rules vary by country.

Super Bowl betting tips

  • Shop for the best price. A spread at -105 instead of -110 lowers the win rate you need to break even from 52.4% to 51.2%. Over a season of bets, that adds up.
  • Keep parlays small. Two -110 legs pay about +264, while two fair coin flips would pay +300. Every extra leg adds another sportsbook margin. Our parlay calculator shows the payout and the implied chance of any parlay.
  • Watch the half points. A field goal is worth 3 points and a touchdown plus the extra point 7, so a spread of -2.5 and one of -3.5 are very different bets: a 3-point win covers the first and not the second.
  • Don’t chase the MVP longshots with your whole budget. A +2000 MVP price implies a chance under 5%. One small bet is fun; ten of them is a lot of losing tickets.
  • Size your stakes. If you think you have found real value, the Kelly criterion calculator suggests a stake that doesn’t risk your whole bankroll.
  • Bet with money you can lose. No tip makes a bet a sure thing. More general advice is in our sports betting tips.

Super Bowl LX in numbers

Last season’s game gives a useful picture of how much is bet and who usually wins: the sportsbooks.

FigureSuper Bowl LX (February 2026)
ResultSeattle Seahawks 29, New England Patriots 13
MVPKenneth Walker III, Seattle running back
Legal US betting (AGA estimate)$1.76 billion, a record
Bets taken in Nevada$133.8 million, the lowest in 10 years
Nevada sportsbooks’ win$9.9 million, a 7.4% hold
Nevada’s highest in the last 10 years$190 million on Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 (Chiefs vs 49ers)
Hold = the share of all money bet that sportsbooks kept.

Nevada’s $133.8 million was under 8% of the $1.76 billion the AGA expected Americans to bet legally, now that 39 states have legal sports betting. The 7.4% hold shows how much of the money bet Nevada’s sportsbooks kept on the night.

Super Bowl betting FAQs

When is Super Bowl LXI?

Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The two teams are decided in the AFC and NFC Championship games on 31 January 2027.

Can you bet on the Super Bowl now?

Yes. Futures markets on which team will win Super Bowl LXI are open all season. Bets on the game itself (spread, total and props) open once the two teams are known.

What does -110 mean in Super Bowl odds?

It means you bet $110 to win $100, so a winning bet returns $210. A price of -110 implies a 52.4% chance, which is also the share of bets you must win to break even.

What is a Super Bowl prop bet?

A prop is a bet on something inside the game rather than the final result, such as the coin toss, the first team to score, a player’s yards or the MVP.

Is Super Bowl betting legal?

In the US it is legal in 39 states plus Washington, DC, and about 30 allow online betting (mid-2026). Elsewhere it depends on your country, so check your local laws before you bet.

What are Super Bowl squares?

A party game, not a sportsbook bet. Players buy squares on a 10 by 10 grid, each row and column gets a number from 0 to 9, and a square wins when its numbers match the last digit of each team’s score at the end of a quarter.
