Mega Joker Slot Review: 99% RTP, Supermeter and Jackpot Explained

UltraGambler earns a commission if you sign up through some links on this page. It never changes our ratings. 18+. How we make money

Quick verdict: Mega Joker is NetEnt’s classic 3-reel fruit slot, famous for one of the highest RTPs online: up to 99% when you play the Supermeter mode at maximum bet. Wins from the basic game can be moved up to the Supermeter, where bigger bets unlock mystery wins, and a progressive jackpot can drop at random in the basic game. There is also a different, 40-line “Mega Joker” from Novomatic, explained below.

How does Mega Joker work?

The basic game is played on the lower set of reels with 1 to 10 coins, and classic fruit-machine symbols and the Joker pay on 5 fixed lines. When you win, you can collect it or move it up to the Supermeter.

The Supermeter mode

On the top reels you play using your Supermeter balance, with bigger bets of 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins. Wins stay on the Supermeter until you collect them back to the basic game. Jokers in Supermeter mode can award mystery wins of 100 to 2,000 coins. The 99% RTP applies here when you bet the maximum, which is why Mega Joker appears in so many “highest RTP” lists.

The progressive jackpot

A share of stakes feeds a progressive jackpot, which can be won at random while you play the basic game. It grows until someone wins it.

RTP and volatility: what they mean for you

The headline 99% is a best case: it needs the Supermeter at maximum bet. At the lowest bet the return drops to about 76.9%, so don’t assume every spin returns 99%. Volatility is high: long dry spells are normal and the big wins come from the Supermeter and the jackpot. See how it compares in our highest RTP slots.

What the gap means in money, over 1,000 spins:

Bet per spinTotal stakedRTPAverage loss
€10 (maximum)€10,00099%About €100 (1% of stakes)
€1 (minimum)€1,000About 76.9%About €231 (23.1% of stakes)

So the cheap way to play Mega Joker is also the most expensive per euro staked. If €10 spins are beyond your budget, a modern slot with a fixed RTP of around 96% will usually cost you less on average. These are long-run averages; with high volatility, any single session can land far above or below them.

Mega Joker (Novomatic, 40 lines): a different game

Novomatic also has a slot called Mega Joker. It is a completely different game: 5 reels and 40 paylines with a stacked Joker, a 95.05% RTP and a 2,000x max win. If a casino lists “Mega Joker” with 40 lines, this is the one you are getting, not the NetEnt classic.

Tips for playing Mega Joker

  • Learn the Supermeter in the demo before playing for real money.
  • Remember that the 99% RTP needs Supermeter play at max bet; set your stake to a level your budget can handle.
  • Collect Supermeter wins regularly so you don’t give them all back.
  • Check which “Mega Joker” your casino offers: NetEnt (3 reels) or Novomatic (40 lines).
  • Read our slot myths guide.

How we checked this

  • NetEnt Mega Joker, up to 99% at the maximum bet and about 76.9% at the minimum bet, high volatility, 3 reels and 5 lines: SlotCatalog and RotoWire. The two give different release years (2013 and 2008).
  • Supermeter mystery wins of 100 to 2,000 coins: SlotCatalog and Gambling.com.
  • Novomatic Mega Joker, 95.05% RTP, 40 lines and a 2,000x max win: SlotCatalog and Stakers.
  • The average-loss table is our own maths: total staked times (100% minus RTP).

Last checked: 12 October 2026, when we worked out the average-loss table ourselves and checked each figure on this page against at least two independent sources.
