Bankroll Tracker Spreadsheet: Free Gambling Template

Free bankroll tracker spreadsheet for casino, poker, lottery and sports bets. Works in Excel and Google Sheets, with return on bets, monthly totals and a loss limit.

Quick answer: UltraGambler’s free bankroll tracker spreadsheet logs up to 500 gambling sessions and 500 sports bets, then works out your net result, your return on bets and each month against a loss limit you set. It is one .xlsx file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and Apple Numbers, with no macros and no sign-up.

Last checked: 25 October 2026, when we filled the template with five sample sessions and five sample bets, recalculated it in LibreOffice Calc and checked every total by hand.

What does the bankroll tracker spreadsheet do?

It keeps one honest record of everything you put in and take out, so you can see your real result instead of the one you remember. Each tab does one job:

TabWhat you typeWhat it works out
SettingsYour monthly loss limit (the year starts as the current one)Used by the Monthly tab
SessionsDate, type (casino, poker, sports, lottery, other), game, where, money in, money out, minutes, notesResult of each session and a running total
BetsDate, event, bet, stake, decimal odds and Win, Loss, Void or PendingReturn, profit and running profit on each bet
MonthlyNothingSessions, money in and out, bet profit, net result and minutes for each month, with a red YES when a month goes past your limit
SummaryNothingTotals, share of winning sessions, result per hour, return on bets and months over your limit

How do I track my gambling in a spreadsheet?

Write one row for every session and every bet as soon as it ends, including the losing ones, and let the formulas add it up. With our template that takes five steps:

  1. Set your limit. On the Settings tab, type the most you are willing to lose in a month. Use one currency for everything.
  2. Log each session. On the Sessions tab, type the money you put in and the money you came away with. A session where you lost everything has 0 as money out.
  3. Log each sports bet. On the Bets tab, type the stake, the decimal odds and the result. Leave it as Pending until it settles.
  4. Check the Monthly tab once a week. A red YES means you have lost more than your limit this month.
  5. Keep the file safe. Save a copy now and then, or keep it in Google Drive or OneDrive so you don’t lose it with your phone or laptop.

How to open it in Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers or LibreOffice

The file uses only standard functions (SUM, COUNT, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMIF, SUMIFS, IF, AND, OR, N, DATE, EDATE and YEAR), which Excel and Google Sheets both support.

  • Google Sheets: click “Make a copy in Google Sheets” above and then “Make a copy”. Or download the file, open a new sheet in Google Sheets, choose File, then Import, then Upload, pick the file and choose “Create new spreadsheet”. Either way, your copy is saved in your own Google Drive.
  • Microsoft Excel: download and open it.
  • Apple Numbers: download it, then open it from Numbers. Numbers imports Excel files.
  • LibreOffice Calc: download and open it. This is the program we tested it in.

Sports gambling spreadsheet: how return on bets works

Return on bets is your profit divided by the money you staked, shown as a percentage. The Bets tab works each bet out like this:

ResultReturnProfitCounts towards return on bets?
WinStake × decimal oddsReturn − stakeYes
Loss0− stakeYes
VoidStake back0No: the stake was refunded
PendingBlankBlankNo, until it settles

For example, a £10 win at odds of 2.50 returns £25, a profit of £15. If you have lost bets too, the Summary tab adds up profit and stakes on all won and lost bets and divides one by the other. Treat a small number of bets with care: over a few dozen bets, luck can easily make the figure look much better or worse than your real edge. To size each stake from your bankroll, see our Kelly criterion calculator, and to compare a price with the fair odds, our no-vig calculator.

Our worked example: five sessions and five bets

To test the formulas we filled a copy with made-up entries over two months (in any currency) and checked each total by hand:

What we typedWhat the spreadsheet showed
Sessions: slots 50 in, 20 out; poker 40 in, 75 out; Powerball 10 in, 4 out; blackjack 100 in, 160 out; roulette 80 in, 0 outSession result −21 (2 of 5 sessions won, 40%)
Bets: 10 at 2.50 won; 10 at 1.90 lost; 5 at 3.40 void; 20 at 1.50 won; 10 at 1.80 pendingBet profit +15 on 40 staked: return on bets 37.5%
October entriesNet result +4
November entriesNet result −10 (inside a monthly limit of 100)
EverythingNet result −6

The two winning sessions added up to +95, but the three losing ones added up to −116, so the sessions lost 21 overall. A tracker shows that gap between the wins you remember and the real total.

Keep records for tax time

In the US, the IRS asks gamblers to keep “an accurate diary or similar record” of wins and losses, with the date and type of each wager, the place, and the amounts won and lost, along with W-2G forms, tickets and statements. The spreadsheet covers the dates, games, places and amounts; add anything else in the Notes column. From tax year 2026, only 90% of US gambling losses can be deducted, and only up to your winnings. Our gambling winnings tax calculator shows what that means for you. Rules differ in other countries, so check with your tax authority. This is general information, not tax advice.

Set a loss limit you will keep

A tracker only helps if the limit means something. Work out an amount you can lose without it hurting with our gambling budget calculator, put it in the Settings tab, and stop for the rest of the month when the Monthly tab says YES. If you find yourself chasing losses or leaving sessions out of the log, take our free problem gambling test and see our responsible gambling guide for free, confidential helplines.

Bankroll tracker spreadsheet FAQ

Is there a free bankroll tracker spreadsheet?

Yes. Ours on this page is free, with no sign-up. It tracks casino, poker, lottery and sports sessions and sports bets in one .xlsx file.

Can I use it in Google Sheets?

Yes. Click “Make a copy in Google Sheets” on this page, or download the file and import it in Google Sheets with File, Import, Upload. The copy is yours, in your own Google Drive.

How do I calculate ROI on sports bets?

Divide your total profit by your total stakes on settled bets and multiply by 100. A profit of 15 on 40 staked is a 37.5% return. Leave out void bets, because the stake was refunded.

What should I record for each gambling session?

The date, the game, where you played, the money you put in, the money you came away with and how long you played. A short note on how you felt helps you spot patterns.

Does the spreadsheet send my data anywhere?

No. It has no macros and no connections. It stays wherever you save it, and we never see it.

Check your local laws before you play

Online gambling laws differ from country to country, and in some places it is restricted or not permitted at all. Before you sign up to any casino listed on UltraGambler, check that online gambling is legal where you live and that the casino accepts players from your country. You must be 18 or older (or the legal gambling age in your country, if higher) to play. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, and use the deposit limits and self-exclusion tools your casino provides if gambling stops being fun.
