How does the Folsom Prison grid work?
- Locked positions: only the middle two positions of reels 1 to 4 are open at first. Wilds, scatters, xSplit and xWays symbols unlock the positions above and below them.
- xWays: becomes 2 to 4 copies of a random paying symbol.
- xSplit: lands on the middle rows of reels 2 to 5, splits every symbol on its row to double the ways, then becomes 2 wilds.
- Cockroaches: walk across the reels as wilds, add their multiplier (x1, x2, x3 or x10) to the symbols they pass and unlock positions.
- Two scatters: open the middle of reel 5. If no third scatter lands, they turn into another feature symbol.
How do the free spins work?
| Round | Trigger | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Walk the Line | 3 scatters | 8 free spins on a 2-4-4-4-2 grid, at least 1 cockroach every spin |
| The Chair | 4 scatters | 8 free spins on a 4-4-4-4-4 grid, at least 3 cockroaches every spin |
In Walk the Line, a scatter on reel 5 adds 2 spins and upgrades the rest of the round to The Chair. Cockroaches that walk over a Cockroach Nest move up a level, and two cockroaches on the same spot make it wild.
Toast Bet and bonus buy
- Toast Bet: costs 20% more per spin and guarantees a scatter on reel 2.
- Bonus buy: Walk the Line costs 68x your bet and The Chair 1,500x. Lucky draws between the two cost 82x to 784x.
- Not everywhere: the bonus buy is not available to UK players, according to online-slot.co.uk and SlotCatalog.
