Frutz Slot by Hacksaw Gaming is a modern take on the classic fruit-themed slot, delivered with minimalist elegance and high-impact gameplay.
Released in April 2021, Frutz delivers vibrant papercraft visuals featuring handcrafted fruit symbols, layered forest motifs, and delicate butterflies that seem to flutter to life in the background.
Designed as part of the Pocketz Series, this 5×5 cluster pays slot is optimized for mobile play without sacrificing performance or excitement.
Game Mechanics and Betting
Frutz operates on a 5-reel, 5-row grid using a cluster pays system where wins are formed by landing 5 or more adjacent symbols, horizontally or vertically. Betting is flexible, with wagers ranging from 0.20 to 100 coins per spin.
With medium-to-high volatility and a hit frequency of approximately 26.7%, the game balances suspense and payoff effectively. Its theoretical return to player (RTP) sits at 96.4%, which can vary slightly depending on the use of the bonus buy feature.
Visual Style and Aesthetic Appeal
The standout feature of Frutz is its visually arresting papercut aesthetic. Every element—from fruit symbols to background trees—is styled to resemble hand-cut paper art, offering an artisanal twist on the fruit slot genre.
The minimalistic design extends to its ambient, retro soundtrack, which enhances the game’s calm yet tense atmosphere—though some players opt to mute it for a more serene experience.
Features and Special Symbols
Frutz is enriched with engaging features that include wilds, cascades, multipliers, free spins, and an optional bonus buy mechanism.
The Wild symbol substitutes for other symbols to help complete clusters. Cascading reels (Avalanche feature) remove winning clusters and drop new symbols down, repeating as long as winning clusters continue.
Multipliers are triggered by special mystery symbols in both the base game and free spins. These accumulate on-screen—in the hollowed-out “U” of the Frutz logo—and can reach staggering values.
Light blue mystery symbols award 1× to 5×, dark blue award 10× to 20×, and striped blue symbols award 25× to 100×. In the base game, multipliers reset after each spin, but in free spins they persist across the entire bonus feature.
Free Spins and Bonus Buy
Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols triggers 8, 10, or 12 free spins respectively. In free spins, all multipliers collected remain active and continue to build, allowing for potentially massive payouts.
For players outside the UK seeking faster action, a bonus buy feature is available: purchase 8 free spins for 93× stake (96.79% RTP), 10 free spins for 142× stake (96.37% RTP), or 12 free spins for 200× stake (96.63% RTP).
Max Win Potential
Frutz offers a maximum win of up to 10,000× your stake, thanks to the combination of cluster wins and accumulating multiplierst.
In testing, players have seen impressive multiplier totals—such as a 67× bonus multiplier—and experienced thrilling moments of high payout from modest clusters.
This high payout potential, paired with measured visuals and steady gameplay, makes Frutz a standout title in Hacksaw Gaming’s portfolio
