How do the Avalon free spins work?
Three or more Lady of the Lake scatters anywhere on the reels award 12 free spins. During the feature, wins are multiplied by up to 7x, and the Treasure Chest becomes a second wild alongside the Avalon logo. More scatters during the free spins retrigger the round.
Review sites disagree on how the multiplier is set: some say it is random between 2x and 7x, others that every win pays 7x. Both agree on the 7x top figure.
What is the Avalon gamble feature?
After any win you can gamble it on a playing card. Guess the colour correctly to double the win, or the suit to quadruple it; a wrong guess loses the win. It is optional, and you can collect at any time.

| Treasure Chest | 1,000x your line bet |
| Crown | 800x your line bet |
| Lady of the Lake (scatter) | 200x your total bet, anywhere |
Sites disagree on the overall max win, with figures from about 1,400x to 5,000x your stake, so we leave a single number out; check the game’s paytable.
Avalon vs Avalon II
Microgaming released a sequel, Avalon II: Quest for the Grail, in 2014:
| Feature | Avalon | Avalon II |
|---|---|---|
| Released | April 2006 | 2014 |
| Layout | 5×3, 20 paylines | 5×3, 243 ways |
| RTP | 96.01% | 95.92% |
| Volatility | Medium | Medium |
| Main feature | 12 free spins with multipliers up to 7x, plus a gamble | Holy Grail quest with 8 different bonus features |
The original is the simpler game, with one free spins round and a slightly higher RTP; Avalon II swaps it for a quest of eight bonus rounds.
Tips for playing Avalon
- Two Lady of the Lake scatters already pay 2x your bet, so near-misses on the free spins still return something.
- The Treasure Chest only turns wild in free spins, which is when wins also get multiplied, so the round carries most of the value.
- The gamble’s suit option pays 4x but wins only a quarter of the time on average; colour is the safer 50/50.
- Check the paytable shows 96.01%, as some sites list lower versions.
