Most casino withdrawal problems come down to three things: the payout is still in the casino’s review period, your identity check (KYC) isn’t finished, or a bonus rule was broken. Review periods usually last 24 to 72 hours, so a longer wait with a verified account and no active bonus is worth chasing. Below we explain each cause, show how long our own withdrawals took at five casinos, and set out how to complain if a casino still won’t pay.
Last checked: 11 October 2026, when we compared our own payout tests at five casinos with each casino’s published rules and checked every other fact against at least two independent sources.
Why is my casino withdrawal pending?
Because the casino reviews every withdrawal before it pays, and that review usually takes 24 to 72 hours. During it, the casino checks your identity, your bonus status and that the payment method is yours. Some casinos promise 24 hours; others allow up to two business days, or longer when they are busy. 1win’s terms allow up to 5 days for withdrawals of €50 or more.
Some casinos let you cancel a pending withdrawal and play the money again, which is called a reverse withdrawal. It tempts players to gamble winnings they meant to keep, which is why the UK Gambling Commission banned it for all online operators in Great Britain by 31 October 2021. If your casino offers it, the safest choice is to leave the withdrawal alone.

How long should a casino withdrawal take? Our five payout tests
These are real withdrawals from our own accounts. Crypto was the fastest every time.
| Casino | Test date | What we withdrew | Time to arrive |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1win | June 2026 | Crypto | 15 minutes |
| FortuneJack | June 2026 | Bitcoin; Visa | Bitcoin instant from the second withdrawal; Visa about 3 hours |
| Casoo | August 2026 | About €40 in Bitcoin; €100 | Under 30 minutes; about 3 hours |
| Tsars | July 2026 | Several withdrawals | All within 12 hours |
| iWild | March 2026 | €771 in USDT (after a €500 deposit) | Almost instantly |
Cards and bank transfers are slower: once a casino approves them, the bank can take a few more business days. Our guides to instant withdrawal casinos and the best payout casinos compare more casinos.
Why is the casino asking for my ID?
Licensed casinos must check who you are before they pay out, to keep money laundering and fraud out of gambling and to confirm you are old enough to play. Most ask at your first withdrawal, or once your withdrawals pass a set total: at 1win that is €500 in total. Large wins can also trigger a source of funds check, where the casino asks where your gambling money came from.
Documents casinos usually ask for
- Photo ID: passport, national ID card or driving licence
- Proof of address: a recent utility bill or bank statement
- Proof of payment: a photo of your card with the middle digits covered, or an e-wallet screenshot
- Sometimes a selfie holding your ID
- For source of funds checks: bank statements, payslips, tax returns or savings statements
How to pass the check first time
- Upload documents as soon as you sign up, not when you want to withdraw.
- Send clear photos with all four corners visible and no glare, and both sides of an ID card.
- Make sure the name and address match your casino account exactly.
- Send bank statements as the full PDF, not a cropped screenshot.
- Reply in one support ticket rather than opening new ones, which can restart the review.
Playing at a casino that never checks ID has its own risks. Our guide to no KYC crypto casinos explains when even those casinos ask for documents.
Why were my bonus winnings removed?
Usually because a bonus rule was broken, most often the maximum bet rule. These are the terms that most often cost players their winnings:
- Max bet while wagering: most bonuses cap each bet while you play through them. AskGamblers puts the average at about €5, with a range of €1 to €20. One bet over the limit can void the bonus and its winnings.
- Excluded games: some games don’t count towards wagering at all, and playing them with bonus money can break the terms.
- Game weighting: slots usually count 100%, while table games often count 0% to 20%, so wagering on blackjack can take five to ten times longer or not count at all.
- Max cashout: no-deposit bonuses often cap what you can withdraw, at amounts such as $50 or $100, and the rest is removed.
- Unfinished wagering: bonus money can’t be withdrawn until the wagering is complete. Our wagering requirement calculator shows how much you have to bet.
Withdrawal refused or account closed: common causes
- A payment method in someone else’s name. Deposits from a partner’s card or a friend’s wallet are one of the most common reasons a withdrawal is refused.
- More than one account. Casinos allow one account per person, and duplicate accounts are a frequent reason for closures in player complaints.
- A deposit-only method. Vouchers such as Paysafecard often can’t receive withdrawals, so you need another method in your own name. See our Paysafecard casinos guide.
- Wrong crypto details. Coins sent to a wrong address or on the wrong network may be lost for good, so check both before you confirm.
- Country rules. Playing from a country the casino doesn’t accept breaks its terms and can void winnings. Check your local laws and the casino’s country list before you sign up.
If your problem is getting money in rather than out, see why a casino deposit gets declined.
How do I complain about a casino that won’t pay?
Complain to the casino in writing first, then take it to the dispute service its licence requires. Keep screenshots of your balance, the withdrawal request and every chat.
- Contact support and ask for the complaints or disputes team. Ask for the exact rule they say you broke.
- Check the casino’s licence in its footer, then follow that regulator’s route below.
- Use a free mediator such as AskGamblers or Casino Guru if the casino doesn’t reply. Both ask you to contact the casino first.
| Licence | Step 1 | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Curaçao | Complain to the casino; it must answer within 4 weeks (one 4-week extension allowed) | A CGA-certified dispute service (ADR), free for players; you have 6 months to file |
| Anjouan | Complain through the licence seal on the casino’s site; the casino has 30 days to reply | An approved ADR provider, paid for by the casino. Payment and bonus disputes must be raised within 30 days |
| Malta (MGA) | Complain to the casino first | The casino’s ADR body decides disputes; the MGA still takes complaints about unfair conduct |
| Great Britain (UKGC) | Complain to the casino | After 8 weeks without a fix, a free approved ADR such as IBAS or eCOGRA |
Casino withdrawal problems FAQs
How long can a casino keep a withdrawal pending?
Most review withdrawals within 24 to 72 hours. Some terms allow longer, such as up to 5 days at 1win for €50 or more, plus bank processing time for cards.
Can a casino refuse to pay my winnings?
Only for a reason in its terms, such as a broken bonus rule, a duplicate account or a payment method in someone else’s name. Ask for the exact rule in writing and escalate if you disagree.
Why does the casino want a bank statement?
To confirm the payment method is yours, and on larger amounts to check where your gambling money came from. It is a standard anti-money-laundering check.
What is a reverse withdrawal?
Cancelling a pending withdrawal to play the money again. It has been banned for online casinos in Great Britain since October 2021.
Which casinos paid fastest in our tests?

Check your local laws before you play
Online gambling laws differ from country to country, and in some places it is restricted or not permitted. Check that online gambling is legal where you live and that the casino accepts players from your country. You must be 18 or older (or the legal age where you live, if higher). If gambling stops being fun, our responsible gambling page lists free help.
