Quick answer: an accumulator (acca) multiplies the odds of all its selections, so four picks at 2/1, 6/4, Evens and 5/4 turn a £1 stake into £33.75 if all four win, but a single loser loses the whole bet. Enter your selections in the accumulator calculator below to see your returns, profit and acca odds. It also settles each-way accas, void selections and full-cover bets such as the Yankee and Lucky 15.
Returns include your stake. A void selection or non-runner is removed and the bet carries on at the odds of the rest. Rule 4 deductions, dead heats and bookmaker bonuses such as Lucky 15 double odds are not included.

How to use the accumulator calculator
- Enter the odds for each selection. Fractional odds (5/2, 10/11 or Evens) are the default; switch to decimal or American odds if your bookmaker shows those. Use + SEL to add up to 12 selections.
- Type your stake per bet. For a single acca this is your whole stake. For a Yankee or Lucky 15 it is the stake on each of the bets, and the calculator shows the total.
- Pick the bet type: the accumulator itself, all the doubles or trebles, or a full-cover bet such as a Trixie, Yankee, Lucky 15 or Goliath. Only the bets that fit your number of selections are shown.
- Choose each way if you are backing horses to win or place, and pick the place terms (1/4 or 1/5 of the odds). The stake doubles, and a Placed result appears for each selection.
- Settle selections as they finish. Mark them as Lost, Placed or Void / non-runner to see what your bet returns now.
How are accumulator odds calculated?
Turn each price into decimal odds (fractional odds plus 1), multiply them together, then multiply by your stake. That gives your total return, stake included. Here is the example from the calculator:
| Selection | Fractional odds | Decimal odds | Running return on £1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 2/1 | 3.00 | £3.00 |
| 2 | 6/4 | 2.50 | £7.50 |
| 3 | Evens | 2.00 | £15.00 |
| 4 | 5/4 | 2.25 | £33.75 |
So the 4-fold pays 131/4 (32.75/1): £33.75 back from £1, or £32.75 profit. In effect, the whole return from each winner rolls on to the next selection. The implied chance of all four winning is 1 ÷ 33.75, or about 3%. Our odds calculator converts single prices between fractional, decimal and American odds.
What happens if a selection is void or a non-runner?
The void selection is usually removed and your accumulator carries on at the odds of the rest. A 5-fold with one postponed match becomes a 4-fold, and if every other selection wins you are paid at the lower odds. In the example above, voiding the 6/4 selection leaves a treble at 25/2 that returns £13.50. Check your bookmaker’s rules, because some settle cup ties and abandoned games differently.
How does an each-way accumulator work?
An each-way acca is two bets of the same stake: a win accumulator and a place accumulator, so it costs double. The win part pays only if every selection wins. The place part pays if every selection wins or places, at a fraction of the odds, usually 1/4 or 1/5. Place terms depend on the race: 1/4 odds for the first two in 5 to 7 runners, and 1/5 odds for the first three in 8 to 15 runners are common.
With our four selections at 1/4 odds, a £1 each-way 4-fold costs £2. If all four win it returns £37.13 (£33.75 from the win part and £3.38 from the place part). If one only places, the win part loses and you get £3.38 back.
Betting on a single horse? Our each way calculator works out one each way bet, with standard place terms by runners, dead heats and Rule 4 deductions.
Doubles, trebles and full-cover bets
A full-cover bet places every double, treble and bigger accumulator from your selections, so you can still win with one or two losers. The cost is many more bets. A “Lucky” bet adds the singles, so one winner is enough for a return:
| Bet | Selections | Bets | Made up of |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double | 2 | 1 | 1 double |
| Treble | 3 | 1 | 1 treble |
| Trixie | 3 | 4 | 3 doubles, 1 treble |
| Patent | 3 | 7 | 3 singles, 3 doubles, 1 treble |
| Yankee | 4 | 11 | 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 four-fold |
| Lucky 15 | 4 | 15 | 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles, 1 four-fold |
| Canadian (Super Yankee) | 5 | 26 | 10 doubles, 10 trebles, 5 four-folds, 1 five-fold |
| Lucky 31 | 5 | 31 | The Canadian plus 5 singles |
| Heinz | 6 | 57 | 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 four-folds, 6 five-folds, 1 six-fold |
| Lucky 63 | 6 | 63 | The Heinz plus 6 singles |
| Super Heinz | 7 | 120 | Every double up to the seven-fold |
| Goliath | 8 | 247 | Every double up to the eight-fold |
Each way doubles the number of bets: a £1 each-way Lucky 15 is 30 bets and costs £30. With our four example selections, a £1 Yankee costs £11 and returns £125.75 if all four win. A £1 Lucky 15 costs £15 and returns £135.50. If one selection loses, the Lucky 15 still returns £41.00.
Lucky 15 bonuses
Many UK bookmakers add extras to a Lucky 15: double (sometimes treble) odds when only one selection wins, and a bonus when all four win. The terms differ between bookmakers and often leave out the place part of each-way bets. Our calculator shows the standard return without these bonuses, so add your bookmaker’s bonus on top.
Are accumulators worth it?
They are fun for small stakes, but the bookmaker’s margin is multiplied along with the odds. Say every selection is a true 50/50 priced at 10/11 instead of Evens. A fair 4-fold would pay 15/1, but at 10/11 per selection it pays about 12.3/1, so you get 83% of the fair return. For an 8-fold it is 69%. This is our own maths: fair decimal odds 2.00 against 1.91 per selection. To see how much margin a single market carries, and its fair odds, use our no vig calculator.
Acca insurance softens one loser: if exactly one selection loses, many bookmakers refund your stake, usually as a free bet rather than cash. Offers typically need five or more selections and minimum odds on each one, and cap the refund. Read the terms before you rely on it.

How we checked this
We built the calculator ourselves and tested it in a browser against hand-worked examples. Every bet rule on this page is checked against at least two independent sources:
- Full-cover bets (Trixie to Goliath), their selections, bets and make-up: Racing Post and Sporting Life.
- Void selections removed and the acca settled at the odds of the rest: Midnite’s help centre and L&L Europe’s help centre.
- Each way doubles the stake and pays a fraction of the odds for a place, with typical place terms by field size: Oddschecker and Racing Post.
- Each-way multiples settled as a win multiple plus a place multiple: Wikipedia’s glossary of UK bets and h2g2.
- Lucky 15 bonuses (double or treble odds for one winner, a bonus for four winners): Racing Post and Oddschecker; a £1 each-way Lucky 15 is 30 bets: Oddschecker and our own count.
- Acca insurance (stake back, usually as a free bet, when one selection loses; minimum selections and odds): TNT Sports and SoccerNews.
- The worked examples and the 83% and 69% figures are our own maths from the odds shown.

Accumulator calculator FAQs
What is an accumulator bet?
One bet that links several selections, where every selection must win for it to pay. The odds are multiplied together, so the return grows with each selection you add.
How do I work out my acca returns?
Convert each price to decimal odds, multiply them, then multiply by your stake. £1 on 2/1, 6/4, Evens and 5/4 returns 3 × 2.5 × 2 × 2.25 = £33.75.
What happens to my acca if a match is postponed?
Usually that selection is made void and the acca carries on without it at lower odds. A 5-fold becomes a 4-fold. Check your bookmaker’s rules for postponed and abandoned matches.
What is the difference between a Yankee and a Lucky 15?
Both use four selections. A Yankee is 11 bets (doubles, trebles and the four-fold) and needs two winners to return anything. A Lucky 15 adds the four singles to make 15 bets, so one winner gives a return.
How much does an each-way accumulator cost?
Twice your stake, because it is a win acca and a place acca. A £5 each-way acca costs £10, and a £1 each-way Lucky 15 costs £30.
