Roulette is one of the most popular games you can find at an online casino. The tension of the little white ball that can land anywhere cannot be compared with much. Statistically speaking, roulette ultimately has an unfavourable payout for players but compared to online slot machines, the chance of winning is considerably higher.
With an average payout percentage of 97.3%, roulette is an interesting game for many people. By playing and betting smartly, you can significantly increase your chances of making some good money.
The smarter you play, the longer you can play and the greater the chance that you will win a big prize.
The ‘Paroli’ strategy
The Parole strategy is very similar to the Martingale Strategy, but instead of losing, you double your bet (maximum three times in a row) when you win. Would you like to know more about the different roulette systems?
The 1-3-2-4 pyramid scheme
Even more accurate is the 1-3-2-4 system in roulette, which works with the same principle as the 1-3-2-6 system, but is built more slowly. After you have bet your original bet four times (ie won four times in a row), you go to the next ‘level’, where you bet 2-6-4-8; a doubling of the first row. There are a total of three levels in the pyramid, so your highest bet is 16x your regular bet.
The 1-3-2-6 system
The 1-3-2-6 system is a step more careful than the Labouchère strategy and easier to implement. The four numbers represent the amount of your bet. Every time you win, you move up a place in the list. After a loss or four wins in a row, you start over. So you bet a maximum of six times your original investment, which is a bit more friendly for your budget.
The d’Alembert strategy
This strategy is very simple. Every time you lose you bet one more chip and every time you win you bet one chip less. As soon as you have made a net profit, you start over.
The Martingale Strategy
With the Martingale strategy, you bet on the ‘outside bets’, which have a win percentage of just under 50%. With this strategy, you double your bet after every loss. The moment you win, you have made up for all your losses and made a small profit. The danger of this strategy lies in the number of losses you can have in a row. You can lose your budget very quickly.
The Labouchère strategy
This strategy builds on the Martingale strategy and is a bit slower. In short, in this strategy, you work with a list of numbers. All numbers together give a profit amount that you want to achieve as a player. With every win, you remove two numbers and with a loss, you add the total amount to the end of the list. The pitfall in this strategy is the same as with the Martingale strategy: at a certain point, your bet will exceed your budget.
The 3/2 strategy
In this strategy, you also bet in two places (including a row), but you make more use of the arrangement of the rows. On a normal roulette wheel, the second row has mostly black numbers and the third row mostly red numbers.
By betting (for example) €3 on red and €2 on the second row, you have a chance of winning about 69% of all possible outcomes. If you win on one of the bets, your net profit is always €1. If you win on both, your net profit is €7. In case of loss, you lose €5 per loss.
Use the different bets as insurance
There are a number of betting methods (outside bets) where you have a roughly 50% chance of winning. If you want to bet aggressively, you can use these outside bets to spread your chances slightly. The 3/2 strategy above is a clear example of this.
Bet on two rows
One of the ways to increase your chances is to bet on two rows. The rows return three times the stake (so €3 for every €1 you bet, with €2 profit). By betting €1 on two rows, you have a 63.16% chance of winning €1; a better percentage than anywhere else on the table. Some online casinos are not fans of this strategy, so use it with caution.
Don’t depend on one strategy
Sometimes a certain strategy doesn’t work on a table. If you still want to play, it is good to be able to let go of that system and choose something else. Of course, that does not mean that you have to throw in the towel immediately after 2 losing rounds.
Go for short sessions
All roulette systems have a shared danger: in the end, the house wins. For a successful strategy, it is therefore important that you stop on time. Don’t be tempted to keep playing when you’ve reached your profit target!
Watch out for the “gambler’s fallacy”
While there are certain strategies that can help you increase your roulette odds, the “gambler’s fallacy” is always lurking. In short, the “gambler’s fallacy” is the misconception that a roulette wheel is not completely random and that a future outcome is influenced by outcomes in the (recent) past. The chance of red is always the same, even if the outcome has already been black twenty times in a row.
Play with a plan
For example, set a goal that you want to win, a maximum loss amount and stick to it. This prevents you from wanting to win more and more and not knowing when to stop. As mentioned, the longer you play, the greater the chance that the casino will win.
Play in a live online casino
When it comes to playing roulette online, there are many different options. How do you know for sure which ones can be trusted? Many online casinos nowadays have live casinos. You have a live connection to a real roulette table behind which a real croupier guides the game.
A good online casino has the tables and the croupiers extensively examined by an external party, so that you can be sure that everything is done fairly.
